Well let’s start at the beginning shall we...
House Rules was an unbelievable experience (I will go into more detail on my experience on a later post). One that I wouldn’t take back, however it certainly took its toll. When it was all over and the confetti was cleaned up it was business as usual. Dad and I both went back to our jobs but he no longer had a mortgage to pay and I had a new car (cheers Dad!).
Not long after, my husband and I sold our first house and moved in to Dads man cave (once again cheers Dad!) whilst we looked for a block of land and planned the new home we were going to build. During this time I found out I was pregnant with my first child.

On the 8th October 2016 Evie Maree Vassallo was born. She was Dads first grandchild and they were completely smitten by each other (and still are) and were completely inseparable over the next 9 months whilst our house was being built. We ended up moving into our new home in July 2017.. and would you believe that we still haven’t finished the landscaping!
We decided to take a family holiday in September 2017. We were celebrating Dad’s 50th birthday, Dean’s 30th birthday and Evie's 1st birthday. We went back to Hawaii where Dean and I were married back in 2014. Hawaii NEVER disappoints and we all had an amazing time together.
2018 was a big year for our family. I noticed that Evie was regressing in her language, not meeting some of her developmental milestone and had some “quirks”. This lead to her being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at 20 months old and we began early intervention speech therapy with her as soon as possible. I also fell pregnant with baby number 2.
The highlight of the year was my brother Andrew getting married to his wife Ana! Dad was proud as punch to see Andrew tie the knot and he made a great speech too.

On the 16th April 2019 we were blessed with our second daughter Isla Blair Vassallo. We were all instantly in love. Especially Evie who literally smothers her sister with love daily. At just 11 days old Isla was admitted into hospital with breathing difficulties and was diagnosed with RSV. She spent 2 weeks in PICU at Westmead Children's Hospital before she was released back to us. Isla has made a full recovery and is now a happy and healthy three month old.
A lot has happen in Dads world also. He has a new job! He no longer spends long, laborious hours in an extremely hot shed fixing trucks. He now has an office job and is loving it.
Dad had a bad health scare last year. He collapsed at home in the early hours of the morning and was unconscious for some time. The ambulance took him to hospital where he underwent a number of tests which thankfully didn’t show up anything nasty. He has since made a full recovery.
Dad has made some big changes to his house. Not so much inside the house but more so in the backyard. Dad now has a pool!!! Which we all enjoy nearly everyday throughout summer. He extended the outside deck and made it double the size.... he’s still not finished...lol. More recently he put in a fish pond, had his roof restored and painted and put in ducted air conditioning.
Well that’s pretty much it from me. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported us and reached out.
Make sure you subscribe. I’ll be talking more about motherhood, raising a child with Autism, my thoughts and feelings about particular topics, weightloss and recipes.
